This was the
fourth week I've recorded the Church service at St. James Westminster
Anglican Church and I'll start the show this way, as I've done with the
others.
Palm Sunday (or Passion Sunday as it's
sometimes called) is one of the high points of the year for the
Christian faith. There is pageantry, choirs, the procession around the
signs of the cross and the reading of the Passion of Christ.
Not this year, unfortunately. So we're
doing the next best thing, bringing the Church to the people as best we
can. The Pastor at St. James has told me that whenever the congregation
is allowed to come back, the first public service will be a full
production of the Easter Service in all its glory to celebrate.
Again, whether you're religious or not,
these services are worth a listen, not just for the awesome spine
tingling music but for the readings and reflections as well. You can't
get closer to community than a Church service will bring you and
community is the most important thing in our lives right now.
For the
remainder of the show, I'll play music for these times. I spent the
week pouring over my music collection to pick out songs that speak to
the times we live in.
For the third week, I'm producing the show
at home and sending it in for our Program Director, Zahra, to slot in
for airplay. A deep bow to her and the rest of 94.9 CHRW Radio Western's
crew that are keeping the station going through this.
