The Sunday Service from St.
James Westminster, two remastered field recordings from the same
day and more Tech Room Vinyl, the letter 'M' edition!
Details:
I'll open the show as usual with the
Sunday Service from St. James Westminster Anglican Church in Wortley
Village. As I've said many times before, come for the music but listen
to the words, they won't bite!
Father Michael Bruce presided over the Service. Stephen Holowitz played
the grand piano and pipe organ accompanied by soloist Paul Grambo and
the St. James Westminster Choir.
For the next part of the show I'll feature
two remastered field recording from the same day, Saturday, January
27th 2018.
The first event was in the afternoon at the The Arts Project on Dundas
Street with a CD release for Jess Woah. Opening up for
Jess Woah was the duet of Willow Switch whose instruments included a
home made banjo and a saw.
This concert was quite a departure for Jessica O'Neil as this was the
first CD that she had released with a band, having previously
progressed from acoustic guitar to electric guitar.
The second event was in the evening at
Musical Chairs at The St. Regis Tavern, also on Dundas Street. The two
performances were by David Pearson and Gillian Barker as Black Savanna
and... Willow Switch!
I had originally decided to record both events but had no idea that
Willow Switch was at St. Regis that very evening as well.
I couldn't resist playing such a statistical anomaly for my listeners.
For the remainder of the show I'll
continue with my exploration of Tech Room Vinyl, playing actual records
on actual turntables for Radio Western's collection, some of which goes
back almost 70 years!
